She waits for you...

Somi's songs are inspiring my blog entries. I just may be on the verge of having patience with this guy. He is a nice guy and all, but I have yet to meet him in person and you would expect that he would be calling me on a regular basis if he wanted to get to know me better. Well, that is not the case because he is rather shy and doesn't know how to speak to girls (so I've been told by the matchmaker). I'm going to need him to do a better job though and take the initiative. I don't mind calling him every now and then, but this is just getting old and I need to spend my time effectively. For the meantime this relationship is just where it needs to be...a friendship. There will be no progession of this relationship until I actually have the opportunity to meet Mr. Tallyboo (so I shall call him hehe). No telling where it will go, but she waits for you Mr. Tallyboo to open up and be in pursuit. I feel like this story is relevant to other young ladies out there, so I had to tell it. I know it can be frustrating and confusing at the same time to be single and waiting for your Prince Navine to come along. It will take time, so enjoy the time you have to grow as a young lady in the process.

What A Man, What A Man, What a Mighty Good Man

During my quiet time, I read this article called Faith for the Man He'll Become. It is a must read! As a young woman, I envision this exemplar model of man I'm supposed to marry based on the excellent role models of men in my life and the high expectations I've set (hmm...the lovely list). Of course, we know young men out there have flaws and all just like we do. With that being said, we do need to be discerning of the relationships we partake in with young men. In having these relationships, whether it be friendships or courting, we have to understand that their progress to being potential husbands and fathers comes with growth and encouragement. I love how the article mentions that as young women we should be looking for someone who pursues a trajectory of godliness. His intentions should consist of efforts to follow the requirements of masculine servant leadership in the Bible. For example, he must be self-controlled, respectable, welcoming to others, and gentle, just to name a few (See 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Acts 6:3, Titus 1:6-9). Just know he is a work in progress, and he wants to be the mighty good man for his wife and children. If he is loving Jesus, he is willing to give up things that are not pleasing to God and striving towards dwelling with God forever. As young women in Christ, we just have to be prayerful and encouraging every step of the way.

Catching Feelings

Ladies, I know we catch feelings when we think....yes think we've met the perfect guy. Don't you just hate having your emotions twisted and turned in all proportions. Is that the one? Will he ever come along? Waiting is best thing you can ever do because God is preparing us individually as his princesses and He knows when to bring that special someone along. Our main focus in the process of being single and fabulous is this: As an unmarried woman, we are to be concerned about the Lord's affairs: Our aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit! (1 Corinthians 7:34)

Personally, I know I have caught feelings for a particular guy. Ya know this guy seemed so right with his love for the Lord, his sense of humor, his intelligence, his suave and debonair character, his kindness, and his compassion...blah blah...somewhat the deal for real. Then I realized how much of weirdo he was because his intentions were not clear and seemed to like every chica that came across his path (oh does he have some work to do but don't we all...but these so called men out there need to grow up for real). Catching feelings can certainly be a major distraction in su vida. Don't let em get to you until it is time, until it is time...with much prayer and supplication, being still and knowing that God is sovereign...there won't be a need to catch feelings. Instead, you shall embody the peace of the Holy Spirit. In the meantime, remind yourself: I will not be distracted by mankind. : )

If I Have My Way

I love this new awe-apsiring artist Chrisette Michele. Her music is so smooth and crisp. You should definitely check it out. I love her song, "If I Have My Way." It talks about having a relationship with that special someone, your boo, pookie, honey bun, whatever. And she is telling him to wait: "There's no one I'd rather share my good lovin' with. But I promised I'd wait'til I'm ready for this." Yes, wait for love. Because true love waits! Must I explain myself any further. Yes, I'm glad you asked.

So let me give you a scenario: Say your feeling this brother, his name is Taye right, okay, and he's feeling you and ya'll have been going out for a year now. And he whispers sweet nuthin's into your ear, I mean he always does, but he gives you special treatment on the occassion of the 1 year anniversary and says, "Baby, I love you and I want to get to know you better." And you say, "I love you to, and ask, "Well dear, how do you want to get to know me better?" And then dear Taye says, "I want to make love to you ." Haha, what a sucka! And would you say, "Sure." or "How dare you? I'm sorry, but you have to wait and if you can't respect that, you have got to go." Personally, option 2 is the best choice ladies. Don't ever let a brother get you twisted. As Nicole C. Mullen says in one of her songs, "If you wanna step to me, you gotta know one thing, the love I have you cannot get without a wedding ring!"

Your love is precious and it is not to be wasted because once you throw it away, you can never get it back. Waiting is much more fun...you don't suffer the consequences of pregnancy. STDs. etc. Believe me you, everyone is not doing it and the best thing you can do for yourself is live independently and don't go looking for a man, let him find you and make sure he treats you like queen and loves you like Jesus Christ loved the church. Okay, I'm rambling on. You get the point. You're not making love unless you're married...point blank...God is not in the midst of premarital sex relationships. Save it for the honeymoon.
