The Classy List

 First Lady Michelle Obama

I simply loved her plum colored dress for President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address. I'm convinced her favorite color is purple. Her style and character is classiness at its finest. She will always be my inspiration.

Sweetheart Belted Dress from Forever 21

This dress is oh so lovely. I bought it the other day and wore it to work with some black tights. It goes a little above the knees (yeah...short), but it's still chic and only $24.80, gotta love Forever 21.

The Sea by Corinne Bailey Rae

Corinne's newest album is a blend of joy and melancholy. I'm listening to the whole album right now for the first time (the whole album is on Myspace). My favorite songs so far are The Blackest Lily and Closer

Beyonce's Fragrance, Heat

I just happen to have a free sample of this fragrance. I love the smell! It will be at Macy's exclusively in February, just might have to buy me a bottle..a Vday's present to myself. : )

The Latest

I'm just sharing the latest things I'm interested in for the most part, so here goes.

Raheem Devaughn's Mix Tape...Mr. February aka March Madness
I absolutely love it...a compilation of remixes, remakes, and so forth. The great thing about it is that it's absolutely free!!! The mixtape is a prelude to his upcoming album, The Love and War Masterpeace, coming out 3.10.10.

Ledisi's Albums...Turn Me Loose and Lost and Found
I really started paying close attention to her music in December after listening to her Christmas album (pretty amazing, extraordinary, continually on repeat. Turn Me Loose is her latest album and Mr. Raphael Saadiq helped in the production of the album, so it's definitely something I love. Lost and Found is just what I've been needing to hear. Her voice is rich and soulful, and her hair is pretty much amazing.

Let's Talk About Pep
This is my favorite show right now. I can't wait til the next episode. It's pretty much about Pep (from Salt and Pepa) and her single life with her single friends and their dating lives. Every week they get together for brunch and catch up on what happened on their dates. You can't help but get in on the fun!

Just May Go See This Movie on V-Day...

I think I would rather enjoy this movie since I enjoy watching cute lovey dovey stuff! Comes out 2.12.10...and of course it's called Valentine's Day...a great movie for a Girls' Night Out. : )

Pray for Haiti

I was so shocked to hear that 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti. I am in such a disbelief at this tragedy, and I'm praying for my dear friend Stephanie Jean Charles who has been taken away in this tragedy. She had such a sweet and beautiful spirit. She will be missed, but I know she is dwelling in heaven above. I'm praying for this nation, for all the families and friends, that God will supply their needs during this difficult time. May hope and joy be restored to Haiti and may God give them comfort in their suffering. Please lift up your prayers. Love one another in love and be reminded of how precious our time here on earth is.

She waits for you...

Somi's songs are inspiring my blog entries. I just may be on the verge of having patience with this guy. He is a nice guy and all, but I have yet to meet him in person and you would expect that he would be calling me on a regular basis if he wanted to get to know me better. Well, that is not the case because he is rather shy and doesn't know how to speak to girls (so I've been told by the matchmaker). I'm going to need him to do a better job though and take the initiative. I don't mind calling him every now and then, but this is just getting old and I need to spend my time effectively. For the meantime this relationship is just where it needs to be...a friendship. There will be no progession of this relationship until I actually have the opportunity to meet Mr. Tallyboo (so I shall call him hehe). No telling where it will go, but she waits for you Mr. Tallyboo to open up and be in pursuit. I feel like this story is relevant to other young ladies out there, so I had to tell it. I know it can be frustrating and confusing at the same time to be single and waiting for your Prince Navine to come along. It will take time, so enjoy the time you have to grow as a young lady in the process.

Listen to Somi

While listening to NPR the other day, I heard about an artist that I am bound to love. Her name is Somi. I haven't listened to all the songs on her album yet, but I love the sound...a blend of jazz and soul, drawn upon African rhythms. Check out the story on NPR about her latest album, If the Rains Come First. I will definitely be buying this album in the near future.

Happy Tuesday in the New Year!

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I can't believe it's been a decade. Time does fly. Well, being a new year and all, people out there have resolutions. I like to make a list of things I would like to do and improve/change for the new year. After reading an article on Boundless, I thought it would be good idea to share these questions from the article...give you some thought on what you desire to see for yourself in the new year. Here goes:
  • What would you like to have accomplished?
  • How can you improve your relationships, school work, or professional work?
  • What purchases would you like to make?
  • Where would you like to travel?
  • What growth/change would you like to see in your spiritual life, professional life, social life, and physical well-being?
  • What things do you enjoy most; what are your favorite things?
  • What things do you wish you could stop doing?
